The charm of Port Jefferson lasts year round with plenty of exciting things happening in the Village during the fall.

Fresh Produce A Plenty
The weather may be getting a little cooler, but there are still many ways to enjoy fresh, local produce in Port Jefferson during the fall. The farmer’s market at Mayor Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park continues to run every Sunday through the first weekend in December. You can bring your family and friends to see what the local farms are growing and stock up on the freshest produce around. Produce from the fall harvests makes the best apple pies and the creamiest butternut squash soup!

Halloween Happenings
Halloween is an excellent time for kids, and kids at heart, to get out and enjoy what Port Jefferson has to offer.

• On October 20th, there is a Halloween or fall themed window painting contest for Port Jefferson’s school-aged children with a second contest that all ages are eligible to enter. Later that evening, the Taste of Port Jefferson is being held in the Village Center click here for event information.

• The Haunted Mansion on October 27th, in the Village Center, offers two sessions that will feature a candelabra tour, a Frankenstein monster, a mad scientist, haunted characters, Three Village Chambers players, a fortune teller, horror movies, and so much more!

On October 28th, Port Jeff hosts the 9th Annual Harvest Fest which is a great time to stroll through the Village, spend time with the family and enjoy live music, marshmallow roasting, fall drinks, and Halloween themed entertainment.

• Residents of Port Jefferson can enjoy a Halloween party on October 31st at the Waterview at the Port Jefferson Country Club. The event is a great way to spend time with neighbors, make new friends, and enjoy festive celebrations.

Outdoor Activities
In a village as beautiful as Port Jefferson, outdoor activities are a staple of life with plenty to do in all seasons.

There are beautiful views around the harbor to see the fall foliage, but if you want to more immersed in nature, there are plenty of easy walking trails nearby. One of the closest trails is the Setauket -Port Jefferson Station Greenway trail. This 3.4-mile trail takes you through an old growth forest, farmland, meadows, business districts, the Stony Brook University campus, and county parks.

The Rinx sponsors outdoor ice-skating on the harbor beginning November 24th.

If there’s one outdoor event you can’t miss, it’s the 23rd Annual Charles Dickens Festival beginning on December 1st. The Village of Port Jefferson magically transforms into the Dickensian era. During the two-day, award-winning festival, you can find characters like Father Christmas, Scrooge, and chimney sweeps galore roaming the streets. The Dicken’s Festival is a long-standing Port Jefferson tradition that highlights history, Christmas spirit, and village unity.
