8 Things to do in Port Jeff this Summer
07.30.2018

What comes to mind when you think of summer on Long Island?

Are you picturing waterfront views, outdoor shopping, dinner and cocktails, and kids running around in the grass?  If so, Port Jeff offers you the quintessential Long Island summer experience!

Whether you’re looking to plan the perfect date night, a fun night out with friends or you’re spending quality time with your family, Port Jeff is bursting with opportunities to make the most of your summer.

Here are some of our favorites:

Shop local

Port Jeff has small shops and boutiques that have unique items you just won’t find in a commercial mall. Some of our favorites are Fame & Rebel, a women’s clothing boutique for “badass babes”, and Kate and Hale, a boutique founded by sisters from Long Island that prides itself on offering carefully curated quality clothes.  You can also pick up trinkets and souvenirs at Sea Creations or head over to Home Kingdom for handcrafted furniture and gifts.

Listen to live music

There’s live music every night on the dock at Wave Seafood Kitchen. This is a perfect place to get dinner or drinks, watch the sunset, and enjoy a night on the water. Every Wednesday in July and August, there is live music at Harborfront Park starting at 6:30 pm. If you prefer your music with a pint, the Port Jeff Brewing Company hosts bands every Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m.

Eat

Port Jeff is home to some of the island’s best restaurants. In addition to Wave, The Fifth Season and Nantuckets serve local, top-quality seafood. For those who prefer vegetarian or vegan options, Tiger Lily Cafe is the perfect place to grab a bite during the day.

If you’re looking for something a little sweeter, stop by East Main and Main for a specialty donut whose unique flavor options set them apart from any regular donut shop. For other breakfast classics, Toast never disappoints.

Enjoy the nightlife

If you’re not ready to end the night after dinner, you can catch the nightlife at Schaefer’s, Spycoast, Portside, or a number of different places for drinks and dancing!

Indulge with ice cream

Summer is the season for ice cream! Be sure to stop by Chandler Square, The Frigate, Kilwins, Ralph’s, or Yogo Delish for a sweet treat.

Stroll around Harborfront Park

The Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park is the waterfront jewel of the village. You can walk around the expansive lawn, have a picnic lunch, or just enjoy the views of the marina. This is a perfect place to meet up with friends or bring your family.

Bring the kids

Let the kids enjoy the weather and stay active by bringing them to Port Jeff. They can rollerblade outdoors at Rinx, or run around with friends at the newly renovated Rocketship Park.

Go fish

Have a day out on the water and see what you can catch! Celtic Quest,  Osprey Fishing & Boat Charter and Captain Fish Port Jefferson offer boat rentals, fishing trips, and more! If fishing isn’t your favorite but you still want to enjoy being on the water, Osprey also offers sunset and dinner cruises.

Visit the marina to rent jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks and more! If you’re looking to spend an entire day out on the water, be sure to check out the fishing day trips and dinner cruises, too.

Port Jeff in Your Backyard

As a resident of the Shipyard at Port Jeff Harbor, you are across from the water, a short walk to the Village and can access all these activities and more.

With first-rate amenities in a modern, maritime style and located just steps away from one of Long Island’s famed historic villages, The Shipyard is the place to be this summer.
